Divided We Will Fall. Support Education. Support Our Future by Lisa Waters

I'm actually shaking right now and in tears...I want to make something very clear because I am so incredibly passionate about what I do. Teaching is NOT just a job, it is my life.

I pour my heart and soul into my profession every minute of every day. There is no "down" time for a teacher in the 8 hour work day. I must be on for my students the entire day.

I can't step out to take a phone call. I can't go to the bathroom when I need to. I can't zone out if I'm stressed or bored. I MUST be on the entire time I am at work.

Then at the end of the day I take work home. I grade papers.

I plan for instruction to meet every child's very individual needs and then I stay awake worrying about the ones who don't have a bed to sleep in, who don't have food to eat, and who might be being abused.

I bring clothes and food for students who are barely getting by and I buy school supplies regularly.

I do ALL of this because I LOVE my students!!!

They are important to me. They are valued by me. I know that they are the ones that will make or break our future!

I put my heart and soul into my job because I value each of my students not because of a paycheck!

On Friday I did not march for a pay raise. I marched for more funding in schools. Our students deserve smaller class sizes. They deserve up to date books and supplies. They deserve to feel safe and valued!

They deserve to have PE, Music, Art, and Technology. They deserve to be treated like more than a test score. They deserve so much and until we as a society value education we are not going to prosper!!!!

If you think I am greedy and lazy please defriend me right now. To my students past, present and future I marched for you!

I love you all and you deserve the best! It is only if we stand together that changes will be made.

Divided we will fall. Support education. Support our future.
